Get ahead with some top tips that will help have your pool ready for the first day of sunshine.
Where to start?
As the pool may have been dormant for a few months check the skimmers to ensure no blockages - take out the baskets and give them a wash before replacing, again checking for any damage.
To the pool pump, take time to check connections and grease the O rings to ensure an airtight bond. Pipes into and out of the pump may need to be tightened as they may lose their purchase over the winter months. Check that the plastic pipe fittings haven't degraded, they may need replacing.
If you have an automatic pool cleaner, do the same, turning it on to ensure that it is functioning as expected. If it has been buried in a pump room wash it down, clean or change its filter and check there is no damage.
Once the initial checks are complete, test the pool water to get an idea of what the pool water will need to meet sanitation and comfort requirements, i.e. essential chemicals like chlorine, pH and Total Alkalinity.
